Folksy Friday *21st May 2010*

Am going home to West Wales this weekend, on the slow train to Ammanford. Looking forward to seeing everyone though (I’m hoping my dad will be making a barbeque)!

Theme this week is ‘barbecue’!

Okay, from top left:
A brooch suitable for BBQ chefs. My fave item this week.
Steak cufflinks. Yeah, meat!
Kebab earrings. So cute.
Amazing cheesburger scarf. I love this one so much.
Beautiful fruit salad ring.
Pretty bunting that would look great hanging up in my new garden - still not in my house though, not long to go I hope.

Ostrich Plume Shrug

I love Ostrich Plume lace! I've designed a shrug, based on all the other 'knit a rectangle and seam into a circle' shrugs that are around. Not very original, but it's cute!
I made it for Mam Graig Fawr, my mamgu. She's not very well at the moment. I spoke to her on the phone and she sounded so fed up, I wanted to make something to cheer her up.

PDF can be downloaded here.

Edit 29/05/10: There were 2 errors in the pattern. I'll try to explain.
The ribbing is CO with 5mm needles, then each st (except the first 2 and last 2 sts) is kf&b and pf&b. Then you switch to 7mm needles and do the body (lace) section, then (except the first 2 and last 2 sts) you k2tog and ptog. Then you switch back to 5mm needles to do the last ribbing part.
If you have any questions, please message me. Thank you!

Folksy Friday *14th May 2010*

Looking forward to the weekend, even though I am skint until Monday. I plan to do some writing, crochet more of my blanket, and watch films all weekend long. Bliss.

Theme this week is ‘nonspecific fabulosity’.

Okay, from top left:
Gorgeous driftwood cupboard. Everything in this shop is beautiful.
A very clever, and beautiful, stitched bowl. there are a few in the shop and they are all lovely. I love the way they’ve been named, but the woodland one is definitely my favourite.
Bonkers! But I want one for my new house.
A pretty, tattoo-ish looking pin badge. I also love the medal brooches in this shop.
Fantastic, hand-stitched foxy brooch.
The weird, assembled dolls in this shop are genuinely astounding. I want to see/hear the story of the Clock Keepers Daughters. It sounds like it would make an amazing film – I’m imagining it to be a bit like Mirrormask (which I advise you see, if you already haven’t).

From whence he came...

"I want to make a big, open and comprehensive offer to the Liberal Democrats. I want us to work together in tackling our country's big and urgent problems - the debt crisis, our deep social problems and our broken political system." David Cameron today.

Let's not forget where he came from.

Folksy Friday *7th May 2010*

I’m getting in early this week because I’ve been so crap with keeping up with my Folksy Fridays! I have had the week from hell: nasty emails, budget cuts, extra workload, you name it. It’s made me really angry actually, and then really upset. I can use anger, but not upset.

Theme this week is ‘angry’.

Okay, from top left:
Voodoo doll. Could have used this today!
Sulking figure. This was me this afternoon.
A scary monster! (Well, a cute scary monster ;)
Wtf? Exactly.
This cool shop's cross-stitch samplers had me laughing out loud. I have to make one for my new house.
Stress doll (on sale too, and they're lovely).
